Law Enforcement Enrollment Leads to Classroom Expansion
by Vince Logan
Law Enforcement is off to a great start this year. With a registered 66 students, it has the largest enrollment ever in its 14 years of the 35 years of IVVC being opened. To accommodate this, the Law Enforcement program has moved to a much bigger room, adding 600 square feet. This allows the students room to work at their desks and then be able to conduct small scenarios in the classroom. The classroom also now has a resource area, locker area, and an area that simulates a police station office. The extra room has already made a difference in the learning environment.
The Law Enforcement program is also working on another building to the west of the school. This building, which was donated by the Sandwich School District, is about 1000 square feet and will soon be turned into a situation room where scenarios will be conducted. It will have movable walls and doors, along with a video system to record and critique the students’ actions.
