Gas Welding ... and So Much More!
by John B. & Joel K. (both Earlville students)
February 08, 2012
Since the beginning of the year, we have learned how to stick and mig weld and currently we’re learning how to gas weld. But welding class is so much more than that ... we have also learned a lot about fabricating, cutting, bending and melting metal. We also have all gotten a chance to run a plasma cutter!
In the next four months, we will be learning how to oxyacetylene weld as well as gas cutting, brazing, soldering and tig welding. We’re going to have a competition soon building bridges out of welding rod to see who can engineer and build the strongest bridge ... we are also going to build mousetrap cars out of metal to see who’s can go the farthest.
This class is an excellent idea for anyone interested in a career in welding. Taking this class has given us the knowledge to weld and fabricate anything out of metal!
