CNA Student to Compete at International Competition
The CNA school year is going fast with the students down to their last clinical. They are sad and excited at the same time about this! Students are now prepping for their state exam to become CNA's and are experiencing a new type of stress.
Mrs. Belcher and Mrs. McCormick's CNA students along with Mrs. Murray's Health Occupations Exploring students traveled to Decatur, Illinois, for their first competition sponsored by the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA). This was a 3-day competition that tested students in many skilled areas of the health field. The students had over fifty categories to choose from, and they competed in three of their choice.
Several IVVC students advanced to second round, two made honorable mention, and CNA student Delaney M. (Yorkville) took third place in clinical nursing. Delaney will compete at the next level in the HOSA International Leadership Conference on June 21-24 taking place at Disney World in Florida. Delaney’s family is actively fundraising to pay her trip expenses. Also, IVVC fundraising efforts are underway to assist Delaney, including a Yankee Candle sale sponsored by the IVVC health occupations classes and the SkillsUSA organization.
