Graphics Students Convey Experiences
In the IVVC Graphics Design program, the students create graphics that catch the interest of many. We learn to use computer programs that allow us to create our art. This class includes a photography unit, where students learn to take professional photographs. We learn how to use Adobe Photoshop to alter photos, create different pieces of art, and more.
Another program students learn to use is Adobe Illustrator. In Illustrator, we can let our creativity show by using many different tools to make anything from basic vector drawings, to logos, company flyers, and website pages, to clothing designs, and so much more. We learn everything we need to know about working with customers to create the graphics they need and the design elements to make it better. Students can then better their skills in making flyers, envelopes, letterheads, business cards, posters, magazine covers, etc. with Adobe InDesign. This program has many more tools and settings that make it even easier to put together professional documents for business.
While that is the gist of our class, the personal experiences of the students are different for every one of us. For example, here are our thoughts:
Personally, I could not be more thankful for the experience I have gained in this class. There is so much more to it than most people think, and it is extremely helpful. Even if you do not wish to enter the Graphic Design field as a career, I recommend taking this class. I have created so many things that I am very proud of, and I know that having taken this class can help me out later when choosing and applying for a job. I will be taking this class next year as well to improve my skills further, but as of now, I believe I have come a very long way since the beginning of this year.
My experience in IVVC Graphic Design has been a good one. I've learned many skills to help advance my career in this industry aspire. My far favorite experience has to be when we were learning in the photography unit how to take professional photos. Then there had to be learning how to use Illustrator to create vector art that appealed to my eye as well as any client’s eye. I would say if you were looking to come into this class, be ready to let your creativity flow, because Ms. G will help that creativity show through no matter if you’re quiet and shy or really outgoing.
