Auto Body Projects Nearly Completed
The end of the year approaches and the shop is still super busy. The Sandwich Fire Department’s 1916 Jeffery Fire truck is being finished up and the 1980 Camaro is in its final assembly. Both projects have dominated the final few months of our program.
The 1916 Jeffery Fire truck was brought in from the Sandwich Fire Department. The truck was disassembled and sanded, primed and made ready for paint. There was some repair work needed to be done on the fenders of the truck. Thanks goes out to the Welding and Fabrication class for patching and bracing the fenders. The main truck body has been painted and there are just a few parts left to be painted and the re-assembly will begin.
The Camaro project has been full of ups and downs, from replacing the trunk floor and rear body panel to a roof and door that needed quite a bit of sanding and Bondo. Once we were happy with the body work, the priming and painting could commence. The Camaro was painted the original dark metallic blue.
This year has been busy but productive; with the end in sight we are anticipating being done. Time to finish the last few projects and clean up the shop!
