Some people say that in the modern world, knowing how to program is almost as important as knowing math or history. In a Computer Programming class at IVVC, students are learning that and more every day.

The curriculum includes topics like C++, game development in the Unreal Engine, and electronics and coding with Arduino microcontrollers. Almost 4 months into the class, students have begun to learn advanced C++ concepts. They have also created multiple playable video games, and are in the progress of creating vending machines controlled by an Arduino and motors.

Yet within this class, students have still formed personal relationships both with each other and with the teacher, Mr. Rosales. It isn’t uncommon to walk into the room to see students working on games together or playing a tournament with the games they created. Even with the fun and games, students still learn valuable skills in a curriculum designed to prepare them for a job in the technology industry.
