We have had a busy second semester with no end in sight. This year we were asked by the Chicago Brushmasters, a group of artists that create automotive custom art, to paint backgrounds for the artists to use at this year’s Kustom Kulture art auction. We have also had some very large jobs come through our shop as well.

The panels we painted for the Chicago Brushmasters were a rousing success. We painted roughly 100 panels and they were used by artists to pinstripe and paint for auction. The auction is used to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. A full 100% of the money raised is given to the charity. Over 100 artists donate their time, travel and art for this cause.  We also had one of our students, Dylan K. (Yorkville), paint an old faded red Radio Flyer push car that raised about $250 for the Charity. The auction raised over $50,000 this year for the Ronald McDonald House.

We are finishing up the fire truck for the Sandwich Fire Department. We have a few last things to paint on the fire truck and then on to the decorative gold leafing for the truck.

We have been busy learning to paint and repair dents and scratches as well. All the students have had the opportunity to complete paint jobs as well as fix dents. This rest of the year we are working on a couple of projects including some custom paint techniques. We will be having some pinstripers and custom painters come out to our class in April to do a demonstration and show our students some basics in pinstriping.
