Students Pursue Fitness for Career Readiness
Police officers must pass a basic physical fitness exam. This includes bench pressing their own weight, sitting and being able to reach their toes, doing 36 sit-ups in a minute, and running a mile and a half in less than 14 minutes.
In order to get ready to do this, the Law Enforcement class, along with Fire Science and EMS (who have their own entrance exam), participate in physical training twice a week to get ready.
The purpose of this training is to make the students aware of their current physical fitness - where they are and where they need to be in order to pass the exam. In the previous years, this “eye-opener” has helped many students pursue a better diet and lifestyle.
