CO2 Cars Designed for Speed

One exciting event we do in Drafting and Design is when we make our CO2 racecars. Each two-person team is given a block of wood, wheels, axles, and a CO2 cartridge. You start by cutting the wood to make the shape of your car. The next step is sanding and painting the car to whatever design you would like. After that you put the wheels on the car. The final step is inserting the CO2 container in a slot in the back of the car.

After all that hard work, the fun part is racing the cars. You start off with one person holding the car while the other partner hits the CO2 container with a needle. Then the real fun begins as you see your CO2 car race down the hallway. The team with the best time is crowned the winners.

Congratulations to Eric E. (Yorkville) and Elijah F. (Serena) for the fastest racecar this year!
