A few months ago, Automotive Technology offered one Saturday morning for the elderly to bring in their cars to get a 27 point inspection done. A few of our students got chosen to spend the day doing this. Basically what the students were doing was looking at each car and checking the fluid levels, tires, belts, hoses, and everything on the car to make sure that everything was all set and okay to drive for the owners. This past week the Fire Science and EMT students had the opportunity to watch a medical evacuation (Medevac) helicopter land in the IVVC parking lot. Students got to sit in the helicopter, take pictures, and ask questions. Because both classes are part of the Emergency Medical Service team, they need to know the skills and training it takes to get a patient loaded into the Medevac helicopters. On Monday, November 21 st , the Early Childhood Development (ECD) students showed that they can be tough, as well as gentle with their preschoolers. We took a trip to Dojo Dynamics for a self-defense class. All of the students had a great time learning how to punch and kick. We were tired and sweaty, but we want to go back! Thanks to Shihan Scott Francis for sharing his time with the ECD classes.
