Construction Trades Installs Roof for Sandwich Park District
The Construction Trades class recently had a wonderful opportunity to learn how to install a metal roof on a pavilion for the Sandwich Park District at Knights Park. All the students worked together in replacing the previous roof on the pavilion with a metal roof. During class time, the students would go out to the work site. They had to make sure everything was done correctly by measuring accurately, making proper cuts, and checking for accuracy as the project moved along.
These are some of the tasks completed by the class:
- Removed old and installed new fascia
- Painted new lumber to match existing, and did touch-up work where needed
- Replaced drip edge
- Installed furring strips
- Installed metal roof panels
- Installed rake edge trim
- Installed ridge cap
After two and a half weeks of hard work, the project for Knights Park was finally finished and looks great - thanks to the Construction Trades program!
