Students Raise Funds for Family of Late Fire Chief
Every year, the IVVC Law Enforcement class raises money for someone or some organization. This year we decided to raise money for the Pruski family.
Jake Pruski was the Fire Science instructor at IVVC, and passed away this summer leaving behind his wife and kids. Their normal life will never be like it was at the Pruski's, and they will have to accept a new "normal". I was hoping a small gift would help them this Christmas.
Last Monday, I asked my 45 students to help by bringing in $5 each, a dollar a day. By the end of the week, the students had exceeded all of my expectations.
The students didn't complain and gave what they had. Some students asked family. Some asked their friends. One student even gave all of her tips from the previous night she worked.
Collectively, they raised $1,800 in five days!
Kindness and compassion are still out there.
