Auto Body Students Into the Stride
As we have gotten into the groove of what this new school year will look like, our Auto Body Repair classroom has finally started to hit its stride. It took time to work out all the kinks, and the students are finally working through simple basic practice repairs and getting some experience in the paint booth.
While we are not taking in customer work this year like in previous years, the students will still get to get their hands on some of the donated vehicles at the school. We have a couple projects that have been continued from last year as we were not able to complete them before the COVID-19 shutdown of in-person learning. We have a 1984 GMC truck that is getting a complete two-tone paint job, and a set of original Norton Commando motorcycle parts that needed to be freshened up.
The students have begun their yearly panel projects where they will work through a basic dent repair and painting procedures. We will do this a couple of times and then move on to bigger repairs, welding, and painting techniques.
As we push on through these weird times, the students are really putting their heads down and working hard to make sure that they use all their time wisely within this class. While we are not sure what is around the corner, we will continue to push through the new procedures and find our way!
