Paint and Assembly for 1984 GMC Pickup Nearing Completion
As the second semester begins, our Auto Body Repair class is getting projects done that were held over from last school year due to our pause of in-person instruction. We have completed a couple of projects in the early stages of this semester and are looking to add more to the list.
We are in the last stages of final paint and assembly for one of our biggest projects. It is a 1984 GMC K1500 pickup. This truck was brought in last school year and when we were ready to begin paint, COVID-19 caused remote learning, so we missed out on completing the project. Luckily our customer was willing to let the project go into the next year and we have been able to complete the work this school year. The truck got a total two-tone red and white era correct (original) paint job. We removed the bed and painted the bed and cab separately.
We have also completed an original set of 1960’s era Norton Commando 850 motorcycle tank and two side covers, complete with graphics kit installed and cleared over. This project also came to us last year and just got finished. The tank had some dents and dings in it that had to be worked out before getting its final jet black paint job and gold decals.
Lucky for us we had great people allowing the students to have the time to complete the projects during these different school years. As we continue, the focus will be on plastic repairs and welding, and we plan to complete the projects as we go!
