Fire Science Helps Out in the Community
Fire Science students do more than learn about and train for firefighting. During the month of December, the students from the Fire Science program serve the citizens of Sandwich and DeKalb County. The students work during class time and outside of class time participating in various community service projects.
They start the month off by assisting with the DeKalb County Toys for Tots program that is located at IVVC. Next, they help sort all of the donated food for the Franklin Mall Food Drive Project in Sandwich. Finally, we conclude the community service projects by assisting the Sandwich Park District with setting up the community ice skating rink at Knight’s Park.
