Students Excel in Coding and 3D Modeling, with Video Game Creation on the Horizon
Hello IVVC Community!
I hope everyone is staying safe and warm. A lot has happened in Computer Programming and Gaming Technologies. I know this year has been unique. The dedication of the students has not changed.
We started the year off with a brief overview of genetic coding as well as explored options with programming in the medical field. We then moved to 3D modeling also with the intent of character design. We have created moveable characters and short actions for the characters to complete. Many of the students have also been able to print out a 3D model to reflect their work.
Then we moved to coding, which was not an easy task to learn remotely. The students excelled in this nonetheless. Currently, we are working on a Graphic User Interface (GUI) to create a point counter for popular board games. This student-created application also assigns point values to the various characters within the game.
Within the month we will continue to explore video game creation as we begin using Unity. We have received the AWS Educator Endorsement that provides great tips for coding in cloud based platforms. It is also a great tool to use with data analytics as well as statistical studies. In addition, students will explore sound and music production both inside and outside of the gaming world.
Although these projects may seem small, a lot of work goes into them. I personally applaud the students for doing such a good job without being in the classroom as much as other years. Be sure to visit our Facebook page and make it a great day!
