Construction Trades Builds a Shed for DeKalb ROE
This month we started building a shed for the DeKalb County Regional Office of Education (ROE). The shed will be placed in Knights Park, Sandwich, by the beach volleyball court in a new toddler garden that is going to be built there.
The shed is going to be used to put various items used to maintain the toddler garden, such as rakes, shovels, a wheelbarrow, hoes, etc. The customer stated that they wanted the shed to be four feet by eight feet. They also specified that they wanted earth tones for the shed, so we are installing a light brown shingle and a khaki vinyl siding. We are also going to install a pegboard on one of the walls to hang tools. The final thing they asked for was two shelves which we made and installed on the back wall.
All four of the PM second-year students enjoyed this project because it was a simple shed to start the year off to review construction methods; there were no complicated twists to the construction process. The customer only specified the floor size of the shed and the rest was up to us. We also enjoyed picking out the color palette for the build, which is a new aspect of the project that we had not been able to experience yet.
