Practicing the Nance Drill in Fire Science
During training in November, the Fire Science students practiced the Nance Drill. This training simulates a firefighter that has fallen through the floor.
Students use ropes that are placed through a rescuing firefighter’s air pack straps and lowered down to the trapped firefighter. The rescuing firefighter then removes the ropes that are on them and places them on the down firefighter, and they are then lifted through the hole in the floor. The ropes are then lowered back down into the hole to raise the rescuing firefighter.
