Construction Trades Builds Shed for Somonauk High School
This year's A.M. Construction Trades class built a shed for the Somonauk soccer field. We used the 10’ x 12’ shed to teach the first year students how to build a structure from framing to finished materials.
We showed them how to crown boards, use various tools, and measure quickly and accurately. The students framed the shed, installed doors and windows, put roofing and siding on the building, and many other things to complete the project.
This has been a good learning opportunity for all of us. We really enjoyed working on the shed and are excited to see the finished product.
Some favorite moments from the class were designing the shed, framing, siding, and roofing. All the guys had a good time and put forth good work. One really cool thing is that the Somonauk students enjoyed being able to build this for their school.
