Sports Medicine Seniors Weigh in on IVVC and Next Steps
It’s that time of year! Seniors are on the brink of their next big steps, and we wish them well! Senior students in Sports Medicine weigh in on their time here and their next stop:
“I have benefited greatly from taking Sports Med at IVVC. It helped prepare me for my future career and helped me realize what career I want and what classes I should take. I plan on attending the University of Tampa to study allied health and potentially become a Physician Assistant.”
Ashlyn B - Somonauk SM II Senior
“Taking IVVC Sports Medicine was the best choice for my future that I’ve made. Before attending IVVC I knew what field I wanted to work in, but didn’t know what steps to take or what job exactly. During my second year of Sports Medicine, I found my niche for Athletic Training. My internships were a big part in this discovery. Without IVVC I wouldn't have had the experiences that I’ve had. I will attend Aurora University to major in exercise science and earn my master’s degree in Athletic Training!”
Eric P - Plano SM II Senior
“Sports Medicine taught me about professionalism, leadership skills, and a lot of teamwork. I am undecided right now, but one day I hope to get a degree in psychology. IVVC helped me figure out what I wanted to do and what I didn’t want to do.”
Bini B - Sandwich SM II Senior
“This class has opened my eyes and helped guide me to the career I will pursue. I will be attending Lewis and Clark Community College to get my associates degree and licensure in OTA (Occupational Therapy Assistant).”
Hannah L - Sandwich SM II Senior
“After high school I will be attending Waubonsee Community College. I plan on becoming a firefighter paramedic. I will be getting my associates degree in applied science. Before I took Sports Medicine, I wanted to become an Athletic Trainer or a paramedic. When we had the firefighter paramedics come in and showed us spine boarding I talked to them and they also helped me figure out what I wanted to do and how to become a firefighter paramedic.”
Caroline A - Plano SM II Senior
“I have benefited from taking this class by learning the necessary nutrients I need to be healthy and good ways to build muscle. I will also be able to use the skills I learned in the future, as I would like to coach someday. I plan on attending the University of Iowa and pursuing a bachelor's degree in business management.”
Blake K - Sandwich SM I Senior
“Sports Medicine has given me the opportunity to become CPR certified, I have learned many skills I can use in real life to help me and others in situations of need. It has also given me the opportunity to be able to work alongside professionals. I will attend University of Wisconsin-EauClaire in hopes to get a degree in psychology.”
Jayden B - Sandwich SM II Senior
“I have benefited in multiple ways from taking Sports Medicine. Spending half of my school day at IVVC, focusing on my future was huge for me since I never really liked school. In my first year, the teacher turned what we learned into hands-on activities and skills. In my second year, we began working at job sites that piqued our interests. What better way to get ahead on soft and hard job skills than working in the actual field! Because of the Sports Medicine program, I have begun my certification process to become a personal trainer. In the fall, I will attend Waubonsee Community College to become a Massage Therapist and then pursue my bachelor’s degree in exercise science.”
Emily G - Sandwich SM II Senior
“Sports Medicine has really helped me branch out more! There were several situations in this class where I have really had to step up and take charge and get out of my shell which I am very grateful for. I plan on attending Waubonsee Community College to study psychology.”
Jenna K - Sandwich SM II Senior
“Sports Medicine benefited me because it confirmed my college and future career decision. My plans are to attend Aurora University and major in exercise science.”

“Sports Medicine benefited me in multiple ways. Taking this class helped me find a career path that I'm interested in pursuing in the future. It gave me a well-rounded understanding of the human body and how it works. I will be attending North Central College and will study Kinesiology and hope to earn a degree in physical therapy and work in a setting where I am able to help athletes that are recovering from injuries.”
Cole O - Indian Creek SM I Senior
“Sports Medicine helped me decide what I want to do after school. I plan to attend Waubonsee Community College and major in physical education, then hopefully transfer to ISU after.”
Augie Z - Yorkville SM I Senior
“Sports Medicine helped me decide what I wanted to do after high school. I will attend University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and study human performance.”
Mitch M - Yorkville SM II Senior
“Taking IVVC has been one of the greatest blessings I have been granted throughout my schooling career. Having the opportunity to take Sports Medicine has given me a preview of what I want to do as a carrier for the future. To be able to intern and see these jobs in action is such an awesome experience and has taught me so much. Overall I am so thankful for the opportunity and the absolute privilege to participate in the IVVC program! I will attend the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh to study Kinesiology. After that I plan on going to chiropractic school and open my own business one day!”
