IVVC to Celebrate 35 Years of Educating for Careers
Indian Valley Vocational Center (IVVC) is hosting its annual Open House on September 22, 2010, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. In honor of the 35th Anniversary, there will be a special ice cream social from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for all attending. Tours of the building will be offered and memorabilia will be on display showcasing the history of IVVC over these past 35 years. IVVC alumni are encouraged to attend as well as participate in a group alumni photo at 6:30 p.m.
This fall, Indian Valley Vocational Center (IVVC) opened its doors for the 35th year to welcome approximately 500 junior and senior students into the world of career exploration. IVVC currently offers 16 areas of study taught by professionals in the following programs: Auto Body Repair, Automotive Technology, Building Trades, Computer Technology, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Drafting and Design, Early Childhood Development, Fire Science, Graphic Communications, Health Occupations Exploring, Certified Nurse Assistant, Hospitality Management, Law Enforcement, Sports Medicine/Management, Welding and Fabrication. At the present time, four members of the staff are also IVVC alumni.
IVVC is owned and operated by 11 school districts: Earlville, Hinckley-Big Rock, Indian Creek, Leland, Newark, Paw Paw, Plano, Sandwich, Serena, Somonauk, and Yorkville. Students from these districts may attend IVVC during their junior and senior years for 2 ½ hours in the morning or afternoon.
