35th Anniversary Open House
The 35th Anniversary Open House for IVVC was held September 22 and was a huge success! Over 300 people signed in, including at least 50 IVVC alumni, and the estimate of the total attending was closer to 550.
The weather cooperated with us as the sun broke through the clouds right as the visitors started to arrive. IVVC was looking great that evening with all the school flags flying out front, two giant balloons 100 feet in the air on the front lawn, the gazebo decorated with lights, balloons with all school colors decorating the hallways, and ice cream sundaes being dispensed to all visitors from the gazebo outside. In addition to the ice cream, a 35th Anniversary cake and punch made by the Culinary Arts Program was served to our guests inside the building.
Local newspapers including the DeKalb Daily Chronicle, the Ottawa Daily Times, and the Valley Free Press all ran stories about IVVC before the Open House and some of our staff even were on WSPY to promote the event. Representative Bob Pritchard of DeKalb presented the IVVC Administration with a certificate of gratitude for serving the area students for the past 35 years.
Thanks to all the students, teachers and staff of Indian Valley Vocational Center for making this such a great event!
