Launch the media gallery 1 player - media #3In Construction Trades we have partnered with the Sandwich Park District this year for a number of projects. The ultimate goal is to provide real-life learning projects while impacting our community in the process. One of these projects was to install three bicycle racks throughout Sandwich.
During the fall, we prepared three sites for bike racks at local parks. The parks that we installed the bicycle racks were Patriots Park in Sandhurst, Milestone Park near Prairie View School, and Memorial Park. First, we dug out an area for the pads. Then we built forms, installed them and leveled out some gravel in each of the pads. We also put some wire mesh down to give it stability. After we poured the concrete, we smoothed it out, giving it texture with a broom.
