Students Earn CPR Certs, Confidence in an Emergency
Students in Sports Medicine recently completed training in the American Heart Association’s BLS CPR Certification.
Each student spent two class periods learning to recognize the signs of cardiac and respiratory arrest and choking in adults, children and infants. Working in pairs, students practiced assessing the victim, CPR compressions and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Students are taught that everyone can play a role in an emergency, and they walked away more confident in their skills. Each student received their BLS certification and card, which can be used in various employment settings.
