Programming Students Welcome Challenges
Hello IVVC Community,
I hope that everyone is staying warm in the cold weather.
-In Game Design, this past month the modeling challenge was a magical house or a magical room. The students did a remarkable job with both using their creativity as well as showing a Mastery of the modeling application, blender.
-We have started programming for simple games using Python. This has been a challenge that the students are working through very well. We have made characters move around a screen very similar to old arcade games.
-Our next month’s challenge is a level layout. Students will be making models of levels and different boss fight arenas. I often use this topic and am always presently surprised with the amazing work the students produce.
-A few of our students have been preparing for Skills USA. They will be competing in the computer science as well as the video game competitions. Students have been logging their time and I am impressed with what they are doing with the projects.
-Please keep in mind that a lot of the applications we use do not require a subscription purchase. Also, there are quite a few resources on the web and posted in the Google classroom that students can use to improve their skills.
As always, feel free to reach out to me with any comments or questions regarding the information. I am always happily willing to discuss potential issues or feedback that may come up, as we are already in the second semester of the 2022-2023 school year.
Thanks, and make it a great day.
