The Kendall County Health Department hosted a career panel in which the students were able to explore the various roles and careers in the Public Health Department. The Health Department also sent out representatives to teach students about bloodborne pathogens.
Students also had the opportunity to go to the Waubonsee Healthcare Campus to explore the health care programs offered, and participate in a career panel discussion with a variety of Waubonsee health care professionals.
The students were also fortunate to tour Illinois Versiti Blood Center in which the students discovered the various careers that aid in the processing of blood donations, all in preparation for the Health Occupations annual Blood Drive.
Representatives from Rush Copley Hospital came out and delivered a wonderful educational hands-on display of the operating room sterile techniques, and talked about the various roles/careers in the operating room.
Together with EMT the students participated in a cow and pig heart and lung dissection. They are now closing out the semester with CPR Certification.
