Launch the media gallery 1 player - media #8Sitting around listening to teachers drone on and on for hours is so boring and lame. It steals the energy straight from my soul, lounging about in those dimly-lit yellow classrooms, discussing dull topics that I care nothing about, every day fighting a losing battle against sleep.
IVVC is completely different. It’s new, fresh, exciting, stimulating, and I get to learn about stuff that interests me. Being a student in the Auto Tech program has been the favorite part of my entire school life. There are no lectures that seem as if they’ll never end. There is no hour-long homework. We barely work out of a book, and when we do, it isn't terrible. Everything is hands-on for the most part, and the instructors are very supportive.
I have learned a great deal of knowledge from this program, like how to lift a car, how to change tires, how to change oil and where used oil goes, how to change shoes off of drum brakes, how to check fluids under the hood & under the car, what tools are important, what tools are less important, and how to deal with less-than-ideal situations. All of that in just one semester. Usually, we’ll work on a student’s or a teacher’s vehicle, but we’ll work on ones that have been donated as well.
To me, IVVC is a blessing. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a student here, grateful for the opportunities that IVVC provides, and grateful for the things I have learned.
