Gearing up for Real-World EMS Experiences
This October in EMS we are up and running. Even with the COVID pandemic all around us we are adapting and overcoming the challenges to continue to be the next generation of EMS professionals.
EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) are gearing up for their clinical experiences and ambulance ‘ride-alongs’. EMT students are required to spend 25 hours in local emergency rooms honing their skills while working with current providers to treat real patients. The EMR students are getting ready to spend time on the ambulances of local fire departments and running emergency calls as a member of the crew.
To get ready for the new standards in emergency medicine, the classes are learning even more ways to keep themselves safe with the use of personal protective equipment, decontamination standards, and knowing how to take care of patients.
