Thoughts and Plans of Sports Medicine Seniors
It’s that time of year! Seniors are on the brink of graduation, and we wish them well!
Sports Medicine seniors weigh in on their time here and what is coming next…
“Sports Med has taught me a lot about the way the human body works and how I can keep it healthy. I plan on attending Elmhurst University where I will continue my athletic career, while studying business.”
Owen S., Sandwich senior
“Taking Sports Medicine at IVVC has taught me anatomy and first aid skills I can use in the future. It has also helped me see my comfort level and ability to work in different environments. I plan on going to Waubonsee Community College taking any required gen Ed courses as well as additional anatomy and forensics.”
Ashley T., Sandwich senior
“I have benefited from taking Sports Med because the class taught me the basic anatomy of the entire body, the most common injuries that can occur to each part, and how to prevent or treat these injuries. I have also learned about the different career paths that fall under Sports Med, and ultimately the class helped me choose what I want to do after high school. My future plans after graduation are to attend Elmhurst University and major in sports medicine with plans to become a physical therapist. I will also be running Cross Country and Track and Field there.”
Hudson W., Sandwich senior
“Some benefits I took from Sports Medicine are basic first aid, anatomy, and learning how to be prepared for an internship that I could have in the future. I also learned how to stay motivated and how to prepare for a future job opportunity and how to introduce myself in a formal way. I learned how to write my resume. I will be attending Elmhurst University in the fall to major in Nursing.”
Alexa M., Plano senior
“I have benefited from taking Sports Med at IVVC because it taught me more about the career field that I want to go into. Being able to intern during my second year helped me narrow down my focus by figuring out what I like and don’t like about certain careers. Using what I learned I decided to attend Eastern Michigan University next year and major in Exercise Science in hopes of getting into their 3+2 program of Exercise Science and Orthotics and Prosthetics.”
Lily G., Sandwich senior
“Sport Med has benefited me in getting to know the body in detail, how it moves, how it works. It also taught me the technique of helping someone with an injury and how to prevent injuries. After high school I will be going to Waubonsee Community College, working to get my EMT license, and to eventually become an EMT technician in the ER.”
Austin D., Yorkville senior
“I have benefited from Sports Medicine at IVVC because I now have a deeper understanding of the anatomy of the body and how to treat injuries. I found it helpful that we learned CPR, backboarding, tapings, and basic injury care. After I graduate, I plan to attend Wisconsin Lutheran College to play softball and study Sports Medicine in hopes of becoming an Athletic Trainer.”
Ally S., Yorkville senior
“I have benefited from this class immensely. It has helped me figure out what I want to do in my future and helped me get there. Next year, I will attend Augustana College and plan to study kinesiology.”
Connor N., Yorkville senior
“IVVC Sports Medicine benefited me by opening my eyes to see the many options in the field. I also formed new connections through internships and shadowing to help me figure out what I truly want to do. After high school, I plan on attending Aurora University, and will major in Nursing. Ultimately, I hope to be a travel nurse.”
Maggie M., Plano senior
“IVVC has allowed me to study material I'm interested in such as the anatomy of the body, different types of exercise and what they do for you, and the brain. It has also given me the opportunity to get hands on learning/experience with things like taping wrists/ankles and spine boards. After graduating I am planning on going to Illinois State University to study Exercise Science/Kinesiology.”
Quintin B., Yorkville senior
“Sports Medicine has helped me decide what I want to do after high school. I think that this class is perfect for anyone who wants to stay involved with sports because if you go into one of the professions you will most likely see athletes whether it's for injuries or coaching them. After graduation, I am planning on joining the Air Force and becoming a medic.”
Brian L., Sandwich senior

Katelyn C., Somonauk senior
“I have benefited from taking Sports Med at IVVC by not only learning about the body, but also learning career skills such as time management and professional behavior. Sports Med has helped me understand college and different degrees available. After high school graduation I will continue my education at Waubonsee Community College. Mrs.Kreiter has helped me greatly in deciding to achieve an Associates degree in Kinesiology.”
MacKenzie S., Somonauk senior
“Taking Sports Medicine has helped me make my decision for plans after high school. I couldn’t be more grateful for this opportunity. It was a really fun and a great experience being in this class with Mrs. Kreiter and my friends. I’ve come a long way since the first day I started this class and I can’t wait to start my nursing career at Elmhurst University in the fall.”
Jaedon T., Sandwich senior
“I have benefited from this course because it gave me a better understanding of all the different careers in health. I knew I wanted to help people if they were injured or recovering, I just didn’t want to work in a hospital atmosphere. This course helped lead me in a way that I knew I wanted to go. After high school I plan to attend North Central College and major in Athletic Training. I also plan to be on their Women's Bowling team.”
