Programming Students Focus on Three Main Tasks
Hello IVVC Families,
First of all, I would like to say thanks so much for reaching out. I truly think education is a group effort and I am very appreciative of families and students who reached out to me with various. I’m sorry if some of the assignments may be a little confusing. I just wanted to take a moment and elaborate on them.
Currently there are three main tasks we focus on in class. One of the tasks is to complete python coding lessons. This is a combination of instruction, guided coding, and independent coding. First-year students are doing well catching on to core concepts. Second-year students are doing advanced codes as well as exploring other coding languages.
The second task is the Game Design Project. By the end of the year, students are expected to complete a playable game. This is a group task. Students are also graded on their individual contributions and work. Each student plays a role in each group. Students just had a progress update, and they all did very well.
The third daily task is working in Unity. Unity is an application that assists users with creating video games as well as other multimedia projects. The students are given two weeks, roughly, to finish a chapter in the Game Designer certification guide.
Also, I’m happy to allow students to make up assignments or projects if they let me know. Feel free to reach out with any concerns. Have a great Fall season.
Regards,
AJ Keller
